-Latino/a is a term that refers to people of Latin American descent living in the US. Latin@ writers are American writers, and they write in English. People like Junot Diaz, Sandra Cisneros, Oscar Hijuelos or Julia Alvarez. -Writers from Spain are Spanish. Writers from Portugal are Portuguese. They are not Latinos. They are European.
